In 1945 I was at a kid’s summer camp when WWII ended.  Most of the last two generations don’t really know the horror of the Nazis towards the Jews.  The April 11, 2013 NY Times reports the obituary of Rabbi Herschel Schacter, age 95.  He was there when the US Army liberated the concentration camps in 1945.

Here is part of the fascinating, however sickening story of what happened when the gates were opened and the Rabbi found many orphaned children and one child spoke very profoundly of his pain.
