Charlotte’s Red Hat Ladies are known as the Carolina Belles. Their theme is ‘making life happen’ and ‘having more fun’. And they proved it at Jonathan’s Restaurant in Matthews last Saturday.

They gathered for their August meeting and I was made an honorary member of the Red Hat Ladies. To keep with the theme, I wore a red fedora which made me look more like a Chicago pimp. Rustee Lane a long time member and show producer brought a mother and daughter act, Helene Mueller and Rinita Cowick, the Dancing Disciples.

The star of the luncheon was Chuck Ayers. He’s a long time Elvis tribute artist and he’s one of the best.

He’s got all moves down and flat out looks like him and has the Elvis pipes. He did all the hits from the 50’s and 60’s and these red adorned girls were right with him.

The signature of the Red Hat Ladies is often a bright red wide brimmed hat. It gives a wonderful personality sparkle and when women wear them it accentuates the person. Think of Princess Diana and Kate Middleton. Hats can be fun and the Carolina Belles prove it.
